Behind an unassuming entrance beneath Mount Zlatar lies an underground complex built in complete secrecy for more than two decades. What was once reserved for Yugoslavia's innermost political and military leadership can now be visited by guests from around the world.
Just outside Konjic, under Mount Zlatar, one of former Yugoslavia's most ambitious military projects was constructed in total secrecy.
ARK D-0, better known as Tito's Bunker, was built from 1953 to 1979 as a nuclear command centre intended for Josip Broz Tito and the highest state and military leadership in the event of a nuclear attack.
The underground complex covers more than 6,000 m². It is a network of tunnels, command rooms, communications centres, living quarters and technical systems designed to keep hundreds of people functioning independently.
For decades the existence of the facility was a closely guarded secret. Today visitors walk the original corridors, command rooms and interiors that were once open only to the innermost circle of state and military power.
The guided visit lasts approximately 90 minutes.
Non-resident visitors: 40 BAM / €21 per person. BiH residents: 20 BAM / €11 per person. Organized student and pensioner groups: 10 BAM / €6 per person.
The resident rate applies to visitors who have residence in Bosnia and Herzegovina, regardless of nationality.
Children aged 11 and under: free.
Visitors aged 12–17: a ticket is required, but an identification document is not required. Adult visitors must present an identity card or passport.
The special group rate applies to organized school, university and pensioner groups carrying an official participant list issued on the letterhead of their school, university or pensioners' association.
